Making Chutney
The other day I decided to make chutney, it was a lot of fun, I really enjoyed it.
I made a hot mango chutney and a ginger fig pear chutney that was much sweeter.
Canning stuff is great, I will probably do it again soon. I'm not 100% sure what I am going to eat/do with all of this, but I'm sure something delicious will happen.

Little Kitty
My cat is the best cat in the world. I am so glad that he lives with us now. We went to Boone and got him before Halloween, and he loves Annapolis. I think he has been waiting his whole life to be the Only Kitty. Being an indoor kitty doesn't seem to bother him at all.
He follows me around the house and curls up next to me or in my lap where ever I end up, and he sleeps with us at night. He's become even more personable and sweet, which I didn't think was possible. He also adores Darcy, which is good.
stockings
These are the stockings that I made for me and Darcy.I plan on adding more decoration each year.
I'll take another picture when they are packed full of stuff.
Christmas tree
After braving really horrible weather to go to a choose and cut place which had almost no trees, and those that it had were horrible and NOT EVEN THE RIGHT COLOR. We ended up getting a tree a Whole Foods because Darcy didn't trust the gas station parking lot tree stands.
Decorating it was a lot of fun and it makes me happy to have a tree up.

baby it's cold outside
I took a PMC (precious metal clay) class the other day to see if it was something I'd be interested in playing around with.
Hot Damn. I love the stuff. It's like working in wax with none of the hassle or investing mess. Also no open flame, which means it's something I can do in the house without Darcy being wildly nervous. Never have I enjoyed stone setting so much.
It feels kind of like cheating, but desperate times call for desperate measures.
Glass fusing and enameling could also happen with a kiln. I am wildly excited.

mask
Last min bird mask to go with the jacket. Feathers are a nightmare when you have a cat. I am still finding them around the house.
fun with dry ice
We set this up outside the front door in an attempt to lure more trick or treaters to our house. All the kids seemed pretty excited about it.
I was pretty excited about the smaller bits of dry ice Darcy was putting in drinks to make them smoke.
jacket for costume
Different view of jacket. I promise that it's black. The lining is really dark blue.
I'll drag it outside one day and take better pictures. Gah.
jacket for costume detail
so I really suck at taking pictures on halloween, but this is the tails part of the jacket that I made for my raven costume
Darcys pumpkin
While it took him 2-3 times as long as it took me, Darcy's pumpkin turned out really well.
Before this halloween I was unaware that they made pumpkin templates that draw what you carve for you. I see this as cheating and WRONG, but it does make nice pumpkins for those not artistically inclined.
pumpkin
So I managed to make the camera relinquish it's photos. Huzzah!
Sadly I only know how to post one picture at a time... sorry about that.

yay home
Setting up studio space, it's a hell of a lot of fun. Ikea makes some very very nice things. Mmmmmm places to put bits.

sorry... I'm around.
Friday I made enough lasanga to feed an army (two huge pans- one veggie, one meat) a baked brie with cranberries, apples, honey, and walnuts, mounds of garlic bread, and I think there was a salad in there somewhere. Sam and I also made a tasty pumpkin pie.
Saturday dinner was "southern night" with oven baked fried chicken, deviled eggs, stuffed mushrooms, green bean casserole, baked cheesy mashed potatoes and a very large bowl of banana pudding.
I really enjoy cooking.
My parents came up Monday after buying a new motorcycle in Richmond and spent the night, it was really good to see them.
Our bed is on a frame now, which is exciting, probably more exciting for the cat than for us, but now it's just an epic quest to find a headboard. My mother was in my house less than 24 hours before she started rearranging stuff.
Going to the mall yesterday got me all in a holiday mood. Normally the whole "OMG IT'S THE DAY AFTER HALLOWEEN- CHRISTMAS TIME AAAAHHHHHH" pisses me off, but I'm really excited about christmas this year. I want to make decorations and go totally Martha Stewart on our house.
I've got Halloween pictures on Darcy's camera because mine has died the final death. Sadly I don't know how to get those pictures OFF of the camera. Bah.

ahhhhhraaaghhh
There will be pictures when I can stop and take time to stop cutting and sewing.
Do you have any idea how much fabric is involved in a lined cape? I didn't really think that one through. It's pretty epic.
Tonight we get pumpkins (yes, we're procrastinators) and carve them. I'll take pictures of that too. Should be hilarious.
I am wildly excited about giving candy to trick or treaters, I plan on having two bowls- one of good candy for the kids who try, and one of less awesome for the ones who didn't, or the ones who don't have spirit. No "trick or treat!" no candy.

Window boxes
I filled the window boxes upstairs with pansies and mums, hopefully it will continue to be warmish and not kill them all off.

yoyos
Who would have thought something so simple would be so much fun?
I love these things. I'm not 100% sure what I will make with them yet, but I'm sure something will scream to be embellished when I start to unpack.

pillow
I was about to go crazy from not making anything. I found a bunch of scraps in one of my bins and pieced together a pillow just so I could be doing SOMETHING.
After Thursday I wont be living out of suitcases anymore and I can unpack and start setting up an actual studio, not just working on a bedroom floor.
I am very excited about moving. The house that we're renting is amazing.

floss box
when I get bored I arrange embroidery floss by color. Living near JoAnns means I'm pretty constantly getting new colors (or more of colors I'm apparently attracted to) which means it may be time for a new box soon.
Huzzah Houses!
My current embroidery project is a birthday present for an internet savvy friend, so I'll post pictures after its gifted.
... and after I figure out how the hell to upload pictures to this computer. Gah.

Older Stuff
images of stuff I've done over the last year or so. Fibers, metals, etc.
First Tuesday
Just an in progress tea towel embroidery that I'm working on. The initial sketch was done while trapped in a car repair shop in Hillsville VA, where I was stuck for a good long time. Yay car troubles.
no school?
I'm pretty excited. My goal is to post often, but at least something every Tuesday.
